Leicestershire residents are being invited to a series of high profile meetings to
learn more about the future of policing in the county as the force enters a year of
major change.
The meetings, which will be attended by Chief Constable Simon Cole and Police
Authority Chairman Barrie Roper, are set to take place across Leicester,
Leicestershire and Rutland in January and will inform residents of the options
facing both organisations as they prepare to set the budget for 2012-13.

With the UK’s busiest online shopping day ‘Mega Monday’ (6 December) fast approaching , we are joining others in ringing-out the bells about the growing threat of online fraudsters.
With over half the UK adult population now shopping online, forecasters predict pre-Christmas web sales will peak at £23.2m between 12-1pm on ‘Mega Monday’ . Police analysts advise this frenetic activity also raises the risk of buyers losing money to criminals.
The new-style £50 note, featuring the renowned 18th century business partnership of entrepreneur Matthew Boulton and engineer James Watt, entered circulation on Wednesday 2nd November 2011.

All 43 Chief Constables have agreed to adopt 101, which already operates in a four forces with great success.
From October, 2011, calling 101 will replace the dialling of 0116 222 2222 for all non-emergency calls.
Members of the public can call 101 for updates on cases, to add information to an existing case or to contact their local officer; for emergencies you will continue to call 999.
Neighbourhood and Home Watch Network is the largest voluntary movement within the UK, with over 173,000 schemes and 7.9 million members.
Several opportunities have been created for volunteers to lead on national Neighbourhood and Home Watch projects, promoting safer, stronger communities, making a real difference to society.
It is hoped that volunteers will build on existing skills, gain valuable knowledge and experience, working with the largest voluntary organisation in the UK. Volunteers will also be given the opportunity to forge links with partner organisations, work as part of a team and will be provided with a full written reference upon request.

Your Voice, Your Choice – Community Forum Budgets 2011
Leicestershire County Council has made funds available to all 25 Community Forums in the county. Each forum will have between £10k and £15k available per year for local communities to invest in local improvements of their choice.
We are looking for projects that can be delivered between January and the end of June 2012.

The aim of Banknote Watch is to prevent criminals profiting from the proceeds of crime and reduce the risk of businesses becoming the victims of commercial robbery.
