WHY DO WE NEED A COUNTY NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH ASSOCIATION?
All Leicestershire & Rutland County registered schemes will work together for the benefit of the community, and will strive to promote the partnership enjoyed by us all with our local constabulary and all other Crime & Disorder Reduction Partners (CDRP).
All County registered Neighbourhood Watch schemes have the following in common:
- A designated Police Officer who works with Neighbourhood Watch
- FREE membership of the County Association
- FREE membership of their local Neighbourhood Watch scheme
- FREE police and community messages via Leicestershire Constabulary's VC Relay system

To add clarity to the expectations of the Leicestershire Constabulary and the Leicestershire & Rutland County Neighbourhood Watch Association in relation to the basic support each partner will demonstrate to each other,a Service Level Agreement (SLA) has been drawn up.
Aims and Objects of the Association
The aims and objectives of the Association shall be to promote good citizenship and greater public participation in the prevention and solution of crime so that effective liaison between the police and public can be achieved in order to promote the efficiency of the police in the Leicestershire Constabulary area
It will also offer advice and guidance to schemes that are not registered with the police to encourage registration.
The Association will liaise with other Neighbourhood Watch Groups, Other County Associations, Neighbourhood Policing Teams, the Police Crime Prevention Panels, Police Liaison Committees, Police Community Initiative Coordinators, Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships, Local Authorities and other voluntary and statutory bodies both within and outside the Leicestershire

Many people are unsure as to what is expected from a 'NeighbourhoodWatch' member.
As Neighbourhood Watch members we have made a commitment on behalf of our community, and are committed in a small way to assist the constabulary wherever possible.
This document outlines what commitment Leicestershire Constabulary will make towards the FREE membership which is offered to those Neighbourhood Watch members who are registered with them.
